How do you unwind after a demanding day?
Having lived in Britain for a number of years, I have developed the habit of “Putting the kettle on” as a way to unwind after a rather strenuous day. Just going through the motions helps one to slowly unwind so that by the time the water has boiled and the tea leaves are drawn…….as the tea is slowly poured from the teapot, (NO MICROWAVE!) into a tea cup, the feeling of relaxation begins. Usually a nice accompaniment would be a slice of cake, sometimes a biscuit with my feet up on a cushion. During the whole process it allows time to slow down, and while going through the automatic motion one finds oneself reflecting on the day. By the time I have completed my cup of tea, I am so relaxed, I may even take a 15 minute catnap!
