My Title For The Freeway Billboard

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE NOW!

Can you explain why anyone should loose the roof over their heads if a member of their family became seriously ill and unable to work? In a world that focuses only on the survival of the fittest, systems dehumanize the weak and vulnerable to the extent where some humans are categorized as “less than” or “other”. We must change this narrative as there is no guarantee we will be fit all our lives and the aging process takes good care of this.

Let’s make Health care policies less bureaucratic so we can all benefit with less financial stress in the long run.

If you had a freeway billboard, what would it say?

Playtime

Play time for me means planned exercise. I play tennis at least 3x per week for 90 minutes. It has to be on a clay court as my knees ache next day when I play on a hard court.

l learnt to play Tennis in High School and picked it up again when I became an Emptynester. We have a nice group of players and after the game we usually meet for brunch and catch up with stuff going on in our daily lives. Sometimes we have the occasional birthday to celebrate too.
GT Bray Park in Bradenton, Florida has 8 clay courts and converted their hard courts to Pickle ball courts! We were so surprised that they didn’t add more clay courts, but Pickle ball seems to be getting really popular.

Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

A LIFE MORE ABUNDANT

I attended a High school with this school motto. With the brilliance of hindsight, this school fulfilled this promise for me and much more. The education I received provided me with Knowledge, critical thinking skills and the ability to be open minded and non-judgmental. I tend to weigh folks up by their character rather than by their appearance, and strongly believe that one should never Assume as it makes an ASS of you and me.

Looking back I can remember the names of some of my classmates. Perhaps their names come to mind because they were from a different culture to mine. For instance, Ellen Ramcharan was from Trinidad and was Chauffeur driven to school daily. She was Muslim and she invited me to her home for a weekend. Her dad was the Ambassador from Trinidad to Jamaica. Pamela Swindlehurst was British she had similar transportation, her dad was in charge of the Jamaica Bus Service at that time. Primla Harjani was Hindu, she lived in front of the school , so when we studied world religions her parents allowed the class to cross the road and visit their living room where we saw their temple . My Maths teacher Mrs Brown was Canadian and I think her Husband worked for the bank of Jamaica, My English teacher Mrs Chapman was British and so was the Principal Mary Dawson.

This year my School will celebrate its 100th anniversary. I am so pleased it is still there influencing more young women. #Teachersmakeadifference
